Relatively new to the forum... I can't stay off this site!!
OK, here's the point/question: I recently got a Savage and have been less than impressed with Suzuki's quality control. Tires were overinflated, oil was overfilled, back wheel was on crooked, welds look sloppy, etc.... But I LOVE my bike! I called the dealer to bitch about it (having gotten phenomenal sales assistance when I bought the bike, I figured the service dept would be just as good) but was disappointed at some lame excuse making and buck-passing, so I figured I'd do my own services. Lo and behold, 3 valve clearances are within tolerance, but the fourth one is somewhere around 2 thousandths too open (gap between rocker arm adjusting nut and valve stem). I put it back into specs and noticed an immediate difference. Now here's my question: do these things change alot or was this just another case of poor QC?
If it's the former, how often should you check the clearance (the book interval seems a little too long)? If it's another example of poor QC, then I'd encourage everyone to check this ASAP. Also, what else do I need to be on the lookout for?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks!
